On the night of August 3, 1930, Officer O'Brien was assigned to the Longwood area. He was by Fire Station C on Monmouth Street when he was alerted to two suspicious looking men who were trying car door handles on Medfield Street in Boston. (Medfield Street is the extension of Monmouth Street.)
